We heard the sad news that Whitney Houston, who had an amazing voice and super-model looks, died yesterday.

Here at Gecko we will be playing “I wanna dance with somebody” very loud and dancing round the office in her honour.

Happy New Year

Better late than never … we wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2012.

Well what did Christmas bring… The John Lewis Christmas ad with Slow Moving Millie singing a fabulous Smith’s song: “Please Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want”… which apparently Morrisey fully approved of.

We understand the ad made people cry! You can buy a number of the covers used by John Lewis in their TV adverts on ‘Reworked’. John Lewis will give a £2 donation to Save The Children for every purchase of the cd.

Echo & The Bunnymen – Not The Latest Kids Programme!

Echo & The Bunnymen - The Cutter

Echo & The Bunnymen - The Cutter

A journalist – who shall remain nameless – said to me the other day he’d never heard of Echo And The Bunnymen… and worse ‘that it sounds like a kids TV programme’!!!!

In an effort to educate anyone who has forgotten/ doesn’t know/ has never heard of the fantastic Mac McMculloch and brilliant Will Sergeant.
At The Bunnymen’s recent gig in Liverpool – Mac requoted ‘The Cutter’ as being … the greatest song ever written.

It may not be – but it is still magnificent!

Liverpudlian Adventure

October 7, 2011 - 10:39 am 1,591 Comments

Last weekend Gecko went up to Liverpool… I told Shalagh Fogarty of radio 5 fame about the weekend (which was fantastic) and she said Gecko should do the PR for Liverpool… wouldn’t that be brilliant fun!

Echo & The Bunnymen's Ian McCulloch - and a Gecko!

Echo & The Bunnymen's Ian McCulloch - and a Gecko!

Here’s a bit more about our adventure…
We went up to Liverpool at the weekend, had a great time. We arrived on Friday to meet with our favourite journo at the Liverpool Echo. Following a freshen up at our hotel 5 minutes from the Albert Docks we went for a drink at the Hope Street Hotel, where who should walk in but the ‘Mighty Reds’ – Andrew was very excited, although they did all look a bit glum! Then we went to see Echo And the Bunnymen at the Phil – after which I was very excited to meet Mac McCulloch and Will Sergeant! On Saturday we saw Liverpool at it’s very best in the glorious sunshine – we wandered round the Albert Docks and Magritte at the Tate, then took a walk to the Museum of Liverpool (which is great) and even had a drink by Liverpool One, completing our day at a restaurant in the Albert Dock. Now I’m looking forward to our next visit!

Caro Emerald At The Jazz Club, Camden

Often work isn’t very glam – but sometimes we get to do some fab things at Gecko. We’ve been speaking to the agent of Caro Emerald (of Riviera Life and That Man fame) recently – so obviously felt we should go to see Caro’s first gig in the UK, it was fabulous. In the intimate surroundings of the Jazz Club she had the eclectic audience, dancing, singing and smiling – lots!

Afterwards it was great to say hi to Caro and the band.
