Albariño Voted Spain’s Best Wine

Produced in the Rías Baixas DO region in North West Spain, among others, Albariño has been a favourite here at Gecko HQ since we tried Freixenet’s Vionta.
Known as Spain’s seafood wine, our friend the Winebird calls it “The Mermaid: crisp and fresh but with citrusy curves. All about minerals, and lemon with a bitter kick.”
Now it seems its fabulous freshness is being recognised globally… as Lucy Shaw reports in the Drinks Business, Albariño has been voted Spain’s best wine.
